How To Cure Your Slice – Part 4

Most golfers SLICE the ball because they have an OUT to IN swing path and the clubface is open to that path. This puts a tremendous amount of uncontrollable side (slice) spin on the golf ball. The more you slice the golf ball the more you generally swing to the left of your target which just increases the slice spin.

In the final one of the series, How to Cure Your Slice, we are going to look at another drill that will help you turn your Slice into a DRAW.

The “Open Stance” Drill

  1. Lay a cane on the ground which is parallel to your target line.
  2. Stand with your stance slightly narrower than normal, just under shoulder width apart, and stand “open” with the feet but “Parallel” with the chest and shoulders.
  3. From here make a flatter than normal backswing, turning the shoulders as much as you can.
  4. As you start your downswing focus on keeping your back facing the target for as long as possible, this will most certainly give the desired inside swing path to create a “Draw” ball flight.
  5. You might need to feel that you are rotating your forearms anticlockwise through the strike so the back of your left hand squares up the clubface. You will see an instant improvement in both accuracy and distance.
