A performance from Henrik Stenson that Johnny Miller called a “dream round” was two better than Phil Mickleson’s 65 today at Royal Troon. There were two tournaments, one with Stenson and Mickelson and then the field — J.B. Holmes finished 14 shots back for third.
“He made ten birdies, it was just incredible play,” Mickelson said following the round.
For the week Stenson finished first in greens in regulation and fourth in total putts to win by three. At age 40, this is Stenson’s first major championship.
