Michigan’s Most Beautiful Golf Resort
There is only one word that can accurately describe the golf at Garland Resort – DAZZLING! This Golf Resort in Michigan is absolutely stunning.
With four of the most beautiful and spectacular championship Michigan golf courses in the nation, Garland offers a golfing experience that is unparalleled in the state of Michigan. The natural backdrop of 3,500 acres of unspoiled wilderness provides a setting that is unmatched among U.S. golf resorts.
Ron Otto personally designed and oversaw construction of all 72 holes at Garland. His goal was to create golf courses that would make every Garland visitor want to return to play again and again. He succeeded admirably in creating Michigan’s most spectacular and unique golf resort.
Garland’s 72 Holes Capture the Heart and Soul of Michigan Golf
Garland’s four championship courses provide everything that you can find in Michigan golf, including lakes, streams, mature hardwoods, and elevation changes. Their innovative designs offer a variety of views and challenges that will delight golfers of all playing abilities, from beginner to the most accomplished. The multiple sets of tees allow each player to select a distance that will best suit his or her game.

You will find no other place in Michigan that has four championship golf courses located in such a magnificent setting.
Accommodations – Let Garland’s log lodge buildings take you back to another time
Garland is the home of not only four of the best golf courses in Michigan, but also the largest log building east of the Mississippi River – a beautiful central structure that gives the entire resort the flavor of the great outdoors.
The main lodge was built in 1985 and symbolizes the values of the Otto family. They designed and constructed the Lodge to remind guests of a time when life was more relaxing and enjoyable. And yet this beautifully crafted lodge is an exquisite site with its soaring cathedral ceilings, huge fireplaces, stained glass windows and intricate wood carvings. Here you’ll find two outstanding restaurants – Herman’s and Hildegard’s.
Romance is in the Air at Garland Resort
Any season of the year is the perfect time to hold a wedding at Garland Resort. In spring the forests are alive with fresh greenery; in summer, the grounds are ablaze with 35,000 flowers planted by our staff; in fall our hardwood forests turn into a spectacle of golf and crimson, and in winter the rustic log lodges are ablaze with thousands of tiny lights.
Garland is an incomparable location for a destination wedding. Imagine yourself being married on the patio off the Great Room or on a golf course area with a pond and fountain splashing in the background. For smaller weddings, they can even drive you and your guests via golf carts into the forest for a true back-to-nature setting.
You can hold your reception in the Conference Center, a gorgeous room with cathedral ceilings and views of lush fairways and greens can handle from 120 to 130 guests. For smaller weddings, they have four rooms located off the center that can hold from 60 to 80 guests. Or we can set up a tent outdoors for as many as 200.
You’ll want to start your reception with a selection of fabulous hors d’oeuvres served by the staff: smoked chicken quesadillas, Santa Fe chicken spring rolls, jumbo shrimp or petite lamb chops. They can serve sit-down dinners with incredible entrees: filet mignon with crab-stuffed shrimp, Atlantic salmon with honey-mustard glaze, blackened swordfish or grilled beef tenderloin. They can provide classic buffets with carving stations or themed buffets that draw on the tastes of the Caribbean, Italy, and Asia. If you wish, they can even do a barbecue or a lobster boil or a Northern Michigan spread of wild game dishes and fish. The options in cuisine are endless.
