Torremirona Golf and Spa Resort

Welcome to the Spanish Tuscany, with equally-delicious wines and even better golf!

If you fancy a stress-free break with great golf and all the extras you could dream of, Torremirona Golf and Spa Resort, nestled in the foothills of the Pyrenees, could be just the ticket.

Torremirona Golf and Spa ResortAlmost on our doorstep is a private airfield, Aerodromo Ordis, where the Sky School run Paramotor Courses. The school also offers flights in a two-seater H&E Trike from April to November. The ski slopes of the Pyrenees are also within an hour’s drive.

Torremirona Golf and Spa Resort is just five minutes from Figueres (Girona), the birthplace of Salvador Dali and home to the famous museum that bears his name. Situated in the midst of the Emporda between the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean Sea, Torremirona is adjacent to the Costa Brava, with all its facilities and services to enjoy unforgettable holidays.

The rustic countryside of the Empordá region of northeast Spain (Catalonia) is often described as a Spanish Tuscany due to its lush, undulating landscape, its beautifully kept agricultural land and Mediterranean-like climate. We offer that, as well as championship-caliber golf, shopping, sight-seeing and wondrous gastronomic opportunities.

Golf at its finest.

Torremirona GolfFramed by the snow-capped Pyrenees peering down over the open, flat fairways, this 6,763-yard, par-72 championship course opened in 1994. The large greens surrounded by bunkers, together with a design that uses several lakes give Torremirona the feel of a classy American resort. Challenges like the par-3, Fifth that’s an island green provide an inducement to low handicap golfers. But the open landscape also makes it suitable for higher handicap players.

The Jordi Soler Peix-designed course has been constructed to exacting standards, immaculately maintained throughout the year. The generous greens and relatively flat terrain make the course suitable for novice and high handicap players. But several well-placed lakes and many beautifully-constructed bunkers also offer a technical challenge for the experienced golfer.

The course is seldom over-crowded, allowing guests and visitors to the Resort to enjoy a good selection of tee times — and more importantly, a calm pace-of-play.

Spanish Tuscany GolfA fully-stocked Golf Shop offers the latest golf fashions, as well as club rental service. The golf school (with English speaking pros ) run by Steven Scott can assist you in improving your technique and playing style utilizing the latest in video and swing analyzer technology. The facilities include a 300 m driving range, practice bunkers, putting greens and one academy hole.

KJ Suth, from Scotland and a regular contributor to TripAdvisor.co.uk with reports from Las Vegas to Hong Kong and several points in between, says “Torremirona is an excellent value for money, just rural enough to feel like you were up in the mountains but not so rural that it took an age to get there. Fantastic waiters, lovely food and the view from the restaurant if you sit on the terrace is amazing, with the sun setting right over the golf course.”

Stuart Baillie Strong, Huldenberg, Belgium reports: “The fairways and greens were in beautiful shape. This is a smart golf course and resort.  I am a high handicapper and I found this course suited me. There was practically nobody else playing there when I went round but maybe the Spanish are cleverer than me and don’t go out in the midday sun in the height of Summer! I thoroughly recommend the course.”

A foreign assessment that needs no translation comes from annamlParis of Paris: “ … a été le golf : magnifique!”

Hello, Dali!

Just a few miles away is the town of Figueres and The Dalí Theatre-Museum, the dalilargest surrealistic object in the world. It occupies the building of the former Municipal Theatre, a 19th-century construction which was destroyed at the end of the Spanish Civil War. On its ruins, Dalí decided to create his museum. The heart of the museum is the building that housed the town’s theater when Dalí was a child, where one of the first public exhibitions of young Dalí’s art was shown.
